Here are a few tips to remember before attending any interview:-
1. Never be late:- Make sure the day you have your interview fixed you have all the details like the exact location or address of the interview, the time, the person you have to meet etc. This information will help you reach before time and be prepared for the interview.
2. Dress Formal:- Any interviewer expects the candidates to come neatly and formally dressed. As the saying goes ,First Impression is the last Impression.
3. Know your subject:- Make sure you prepare well in your respective subject. Do not give the impression you have come with a casual attitude. For eg:- if u are a software engineer in java make sure you are thorough in java.
4. Be Honest:- Interviewers are smart enough to know whether you are lying or not. If you do not know the answer of any question do not bluff, but kindly reply that you are not aware of the same and they will pass to the next question.
5. Be Confident and Positive:- In any interview whether you are a first timer or an experienced person, the interviewer is looking for confidence and a positive attitude. This requires mental preparation before attending the interview. Practice at home of looking confident(maybe in front of the mirror), do not show you are nervous even if you are and be positive you will get the job.
6. Weekend Drives:- Nowadays it is common for companies to have interviews on weekends. Make sure you plan your day and don't attend more than two interviews. See that the location of both the venues is not too far.
7. Never go on an empty stomach:- Nowadays interviews are time consuming. There will be aptitude or written test, group discussion, technical round or rounds and finally the HR round. You can end up spending the whole day at the venue so make sure you don't go empty stomach.
8. Haste makes Waste:- Don't be in a hurry to answer the questions put forward by the interviewer. Be alert as to what the interviewer wants to hear and patiently give the answers.
9. Carry Documents:- Make sure you carry all your documents original as well as xerox copies of your documents. In case the company wants to release the offer letter they can process it immediately.
10. Common questions asked at interviews:- Tell us something about yourself, your past jobs and their experiences, where do you see five years from now, planning for higher studies,if education not completed what is the reason, if long gap is there from leaving one job and joining another what is the reason, if they require you to join another city what is the reason for relocation, what is your expected salary etc.
